The Underkin are an offshoot race of humanity, locked away in a series of underground caverns during a cataclysm at the end of the last ice age. Centuries of inbreeding as well as proximity to deposits of radioactive elements have mutated them into a state unrecognizable as human. They come in all shapes and sizes, with any number of eyes, limbs, and skin tones. The Underkin have built an advanced society, and through the millennia have advanced in science and technology to a point superior to the surface dwellers.
