Vampire Slug

Large bloodsucking slugs found in eastern European swamps. Unlike similarly named animals which merely drink blood (such as Vampire Bats,) in this case the name is a little more accurate. This is a population of slugs which have actually been infected with vampirism. Several thousand years ago it is believed a vampire found himself isolated in a swamp, and was forced to spend the daylight hours buried in mud. During this time several slugs fed off his body and became infected. Over the years the infection spread to many of the other slugs in the area. Some of the older slugs even have developed "Vampire" powers like their human counterparts.
